In most forms of organized groups, there is always someone who steps up and leads their peers. At Archbishop Ryan, this process is no different.  At the beginning of May, people were informed that student council sign-ups had begun. Many had signed up, and after a strenuating interview process, a number were pruned out.The remaining five, win or lose, were the ones who became the student council representatives. Madison McGee, Davina Ballah, Peter Marcellino, Erin Woltemate, and Johana Fevrier fiercely battled it out to claim the role of student council president, and to reach the metaphorical holy grail.

Eventually, the votes were counted and the winner was revealed. Peter Marcellino was that winner.

Having been on Student Council since freshman year, he was a natural pick for president. From freshman delegate, to sophomore president, to now, Marcellino has always been a student favorite. A kindhearted individual who doesn’t make false claims, he has been a sure bet every time he ran.

“There was a lot of anticipation leading up to the votes.” Marcellino said. “I was both eager and nervous to find out the results.”

Since the beginning of the 2018-2019 school year, Marcellino has had to carry his weight as president. According to him, being student body president has been different than he expected.

“There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes that no one knows about. Such as organization, setting things up, and making sure everyone is on top of things.”

When asked about his future plans Marcellino responded with, “There are some things coming up that I am not sure I can share yet.”

Peter Marcellino will be student council president for the rest of his duration at Archbishop Ryan.
